Quick Cake

One of my husband’s employees happened to be working across the street when my husband mentioned it was his Birthday! I wanted to do a little something for him, but I knew he would only be in the neighborhood for a couple of hours. It was his 50th so I thought it would be cute to utilize some of my Halloween graveyard molds and do a simple over the hill cake. Using ingredients I had on hand this cake was baked, cooled, iced, stacked, decorated (not to mention creating the chocolate molds) in 2 hours! He loved the sentiment and his grandkids enjoyed eating the cake!

Owl Cake

My daughter requested a cake with an owl sitting on it for her birthday. It was a lot of fun to make the tree out of melted chocolate it was very tasty too!

Halloween Owl Cupcakes

What a great idea, not mine of course. I saw these on the Internet and had to try them! They are easy, just make cupcakes, take Oreo cookies and put m&m's on for the eyes, candy corn for the beaks and you have a cute owl cupcake. I made these for my sons class. I had to put aside my need for perfection and accept the fact that the kids won't mind if the white Oreo filling was not perfectly round or if crumbs were on them.

Grass Blade Cake

This cake was done for sweet little Anistyn's 5th Birthday. She told me she wanted a cake with "chocolate in the inside, white on the outside, and ONE butterfly. The original order was for a single tier, but I just kept picturing the grass blades around the border with flowers. So I added to the cake made a little 5 year old happy!

Spa Cake

This cake was made for a "Spa themed" Birthday party for a special 8 year old. I made the slippers out of fondant, and attempted my first try at making makeup out of candy molds. It wasn't until SEVERAL failed attempts at coloring the melted chocolate that I realized you have to use oil based food coloring. I am excited to get the oil based coloring and trying it again!

Casino Cake

This cake was for my husbands 40th Birthday Casino Party!

Zebra Cake

This cake was for a baby shower. The order was for a zebra and hot pink cake, with the baby's name incorporated. It was my first attempt at making zebra stripes. In hindsight I would have added more stripes, atleast to the front of the cake! It was one of those projects that ran smoothly without any hiccups, which was nice since I was also preparing for my husbands 40th B-Day at the same time! It turns out the mom- to-be went into labor at the baby shower!

Hearts for my Sweet Heart

For my daughters 7th birthday I went very low key. She loves the look of a stacked cake but told me she didn't want the "bubblegum stuff" covering it. So while she and her friend played in the backyard I whipped this cake up! The girls were very pleased, what more could a Mom ask for? Apparently a trip to Build a Bear because thats where we went next!

Pirate Show

These cupcakes were for a pirate themed recital where my kids do gymnastics! It was right around Día de los Muertos, so I incorporated the sugar skulls along with the pirates! They were a huge hit with the kids and adults!

Melted Smash Cakes

These were smash cakes made for my little twin cousins first Birthday! I tried a new buttercreme recipe which was very soft. Combine that with letting my 3 year old son carry the bake box, and record heat in Palm Springs. The mini cakes were DOOMED. Oh well the twins loved them and my husband reminded me life is short, so don't sweat the small stuff.

Castle Cake

The twin's turned two, so the little princesses needed a castle-cake!

It's hard to get a picture of the two of them...

Bandana Cake

This cake was done for a now-regular client of mine. She was having a Birthday party for her Mom whose nickname is "Boots". This was a very fun project, one that I am proud of.

It's fun to look back at what I thought was my best work and realize my best was yet to come...

Diaper Cake & Cupcakes

My first Diaper Cake! I made this for my "new mom-to-be" cousin who was expecting two twin girls! While I made the cake I let my daughter who was 5 at the time put the sprinkles and toppers on the cupcakes.

My First Stacked Cake, My First Fondant Cake, My First...

This cake was where it all started. My best friend Danielle asked me to make a cake for her husbands 40th birthday party. This was my very first attempt at stacking a cake and was the largest I had made at that time. It was also my first experience with fondant.

It's not the cleanest, neatest cake but I have to remember where it all started.

Thanks Danielle for all your inspiration over the years!

Practice Roses

This was my practice cake from my one and only decorating class. The class was fun but has made me despise the smell of crisco buttercreme frosting. We had to make so many batches of the stuff to practice various flowers. This is probably why I rarely leave a cake only covered in buttercreme and prefer good ol' Marshmallow Fondant!
